Growing up, I would take apart broken appliances with my dad. We’d set up at the kitchen table with screwdrivers and pliers, tearing apart an old DVD player or toaster for an afternoon. There is a great joy in dismantling; the secret interiors of objects are full of wonder.
A few years ago, an attempt to repair a broken Epson slowly shifted into an obsession with collecting and carefully destroying non-functional printers. These photograms are printed from those scavenged parts.
